Do we realize that when we gear up to build the next generation of power plants we will be short of skills?
Cecil T asked:
We are about to embark on a long overdue program of building the next generation of nuclear and coal power plants as well as solar and wind power systems.

The problem this poses is the fact that we don’t have enough of the next generation of skilled people in the trades that will be called upon to build and maintain this next layer of our infrastructure.
Conpetency in these skilled crafts isn’t achieved overnight!

DR Coal Power Plant Controversy pt. 1
What are the scientific facts about so called “clean” coal technology?
drokk asked:
Obviously it’s not clean but I’ll assume cleaner then in years past. But is it truly a viable alternative to imported fossil fuels as proponents like us to think and just how would increased use of coal using “clean” coal technology set us back or help us as far as global warming(or for you skeptics) pollution is concerned? I’m all for anything that will give us energy independence but not at the expense of our health and environment.Oh yeah….I live in NY which has had a massive acid rain problem directly linked to coal fired power plants in states like Ohio and Pennsylvania.Now….will clean coal technology reduce this?!

why is more energy wasted in a coal burning power station than in a hydro-electric power station?
nicolemarie asked:
thanks

Doesn’t this make you think that right now we need to at the very least need to scrap all new coal power?
