During the Clinton administration, coal-burning power plants were told to reduce mercury emissions by up to.
90 percent by 2008. The Bush administration has changed the standards to 70% by 2018. Does anyone know why?
How many active power producing coal factories exist in the United States today?
How many active, power producing, coal factories exist in the United States, today in 2008?
Additional details, like where they all are, what there names are, and just how much coal each one burns, or how much they all burn, or whatever else, very appreciated!
Thanks guys!!!
The reason I ask this question is bc it seems like coal is still America’s dirty little secret. The public knows gasoline powered cars are bad.
But it seems people spend no time whatsoever thinking about how bad coal is. I think we need to raise the public consciousness about this thru more readily, easy to understand, information.
How does the Chevy Volt work? If you have to plug it in isn’t it still being fueled by carbon fuels (coal) ?
Assuming your power grid is powered by a coal fired power plant. Is the overall carbon footprint still significantly greater? Would the 80 cents per mile in gasoline be offset by a noticeably higher utility bill at home or do you still end up way ahead?
Sorry, not 80 cents per mile, they are saying that with the Volt it’d be like driving a conventional car but paying 80 cents per gallon.
